Goal: For one night no one in Minnesota will go to bed hungry
I was hungry…
- More than 583,000 Minnesotans do not always know where their next meal will come from. (Source: Hunger Free Minnesota)
- Minnesota families who are food-insecure need an additional $13.74 per day to meet their food needs. (Source: Hunger Free Minnesota)
… and you gave me food.
To feed the hungry, we will organize “A Night Without Hunger” on March 14, 2012. You can help by serving a meal at your church for those in need, volunteering at a nearby food shelter, or collecting food items for your local food shelf.
What can you do?
- Learn the statistics on hunger and food insecurity in your area. Call ECS to find out more about this issue in your community.
- Volunteer to organize and lead your faith community’s event.
- Sponsor a food drive and donate food items.
- Sign up to help make a meal.
- Solicit media attention on hunger issues in your community. Visit the Resources page for a fill-in-the-blanks press release.
- Volunteer at your local food shelf – or start your own!
Episcopal Community Services (ECS), 612-874-8823, can help you get started.
