Goal: Fill four Ready for Success boutiques with items.
I was naked…
- In 2009, 11 percent of Minnesotans were living in poverty and the media income for households fell to $55,604, a decrease of about $1,000. (Source: US Census Bureau)
- As of August 2011, the unemployment rate in Minnesota was 7.2%. (Source: US Department of Labor)
… and you gave me clothing.
Faith communities throughout Minnesota will collect accessories including men’s and women’s wallets, handbags, personal care items, ties and jewelry to be available to low-income individuals preparing for job interviews. The items will be distributed through the Episcopal Community Services Ready for Success Programs.
Collect donations
During Lent, collect the following items for Ready for Success Programs:
- New personal care items for men and women
- Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion
- Men’s and women’s deodorant
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Jewelry, watches and handbags for women
- Wallets, watches and ties for men
By early February, each Episcopal faith community will receive in the mail a set of stickers to place on collection containers indicating the items being collected throughout Lent. Download a pdf template for additional stickers.
